SEC sues Consensys months after Consensys sued SEC
At the end of April this year, Consensys, the company behind Metamask, sued SEC for targeting Ethereum in a vindictive manner seeking a strike out of all SEC actions against the Ethereum core ecosystem. Now, SEC has striked back by suing Consensys for allegedly selling unregistered securities without a broker license in the form of their staking services offered on Metamask app. This is seen as yet another Gary Gensler attack on the crypto space. Various key figures in the space opined about the lawsuit, many ridiculing the SEC over weak actions and their inability to take appropriate measures against various celebrities that openly sold and manipulated “unregistered securities” in the form of “celeb memecoins”. We will be actively following any developments regarding this lawsuit and keep you informed.
